As someone who lives in a cold/snowy climate (at the base of the mountains in Utah) and who participates in a lot of outdoor winter activities, I did a lot of research before buying a pair of winter/snow boots. I'm always thrilled when I get it right on the first try without having to send anything back. These boots are worth every penny. I have come to be a major fan of Columbia outerwear in general and these boots were no exception! From the moment I put them on I knew I would love them if they kept the warmth in and the wet out- which they do! These boots are extremely comfortable! I can wear them all day and don't want to take them off! They aren't a fashion accessory but aren't ugly either which is nice. I bought them to do a job, not look darling, but I actually really like the way they look as well. They look just fine under my jeans. They fit great and are "substantial" without being super clunky and are surprisingly light. Most importantly they keep your feet warm and keep any and all moisture OUT! You could trudge around in sleet, snow, puddles, mud for hours and stay toasty and dry, and I have chronically cold feet so I would know! The tread is really substantial as I mentioned and I feel totally comfortable hiking in these in winter or just hanging Christmas lights on a ladder outside. I can't praise these boots enough! If you're look for the cutest and least boot looking waterproof boots in the world, these are not for you, but if you want a real winter work horse boot that you can actually wear under boot cut jeans to work and not look completely silly, these are a winner!
