Purchased this to help with shin splits. It is a bit complicated to get on and off. It fits nice and snug. Getting this on is tricky because there is not a gel inside the ice pack. What that means is that the ice pack completely freezes. Since it is frozen, it is a bit painful to slide over your shin splits because it is very hard. It is also very tight. The material does not breathe, so your leg will also get sweaty. The ice pack is very small so it gets warm quickly. You get a good 10 minutes and then you have to take it off. Overall, it is well priced for what you get. If you need something simple and qwuick, this is your product. If you need something long term for high intense training, look elsewhere.First impressions:Works great as I am recovering from shin-splints. I thought the description said the ice back was removeable. It is sewn in. Was hoping to use it for compression without the ice pack. guess I'll have to wait for the ice to melt :) ..... good product, I just misunderstood the description. Thanks. After a year:So the little ice pods started to pop and drain all over me while using. I got good use out of them but I've had CVS Pharmacy ice packs that have lasted longer with more use. Had to throw away. The product is a perfect idea for people with shin splints, but it did not stand the test of time. Rating is about the same.I bought 2 of these to help with training for a 1/2 marathon. To clarify what these are (I wasn't 100% sure based on the pictures), they are neoprene sleeves with built in ice pack that covers about about 1/3 to 1/2 of the circumference of the sleeve and runs the entire length up and down. The cubes themselves are about 1"x1" and fairly shallow. The sleeves are quite difficult to get on when frozen because the whole ice part is solid and mostly inflexible. I've found it helps to be completely barefoot with dry feet. The biggest drawback of the sleeve is that the ice lasts only about 15 minutes, then must be refrozen for a few hours to reuse.Overall I would recommend these to anyone who wants an easy way to combine icing and compression, but don't expect to get off with just these for any serious icing.I've had these for a couple years now and use them after every workout. They seriously help! I get shin splints easy and when I use these I don't have pain the next day. When I don't use them I will get pain. I'll leave them on for like 40 minutes or so. Until they aren't cold anymore. The only bummer is thatnsome of the pockets now have busted open and the goois leaking out. So I'm ordering a replacement because I love them so much!I was on the fence about buying these. Some feedback was really great, others were not. I decided to give them a try since I was in desperate need of something along these lines. I am really happy I did. I will say order up a size. I normally wear mediums in any type of calf sleeve. I needed a large in these. The ice packs work great and stay on your legs, allowing you to do anything while wearing them. Also, I have no problem getting them on or off. I saw a lot of people complaining about that. It is probably because they ordered too small of a size. If you get the right size, these are easy to put on and take off. Additionally, my ice lasted more than 15 minutes. I only wear them about 15-20 minutes because any longer than that you can actually burn your skin (I know from experience).I've been using these for 6 weeks now and they are great, but they will probably only last another few weeks. They get a lot of use and work really well, however pulling them on and off has ripped a hole in one of the ice packets and misshaped some of the others. I wish there was another way to secure them, other than the compression material, so that they weren't so difficult.I started running for the 1st time ever about a year ago and developed a horrible case of shin splints. After physical therapy and 3 months of rest in combination with sports massage and chiropractics, I am starting to train for a mini-marathon. I don't want to relapse, so I wanted to ice 4 or more times a day. Having 2 kids under 5, it is impossible to sit for 20 mins 4 times a day to ice. So I decided to try this product. I LOVE IT! I measure for the small, but ordered medium based on other's reviews of difficulty putting them on. They provide the perfect amount of compression and length of time icing. Best of all, I can wear them doing laundry, cooking, etc. They are tricky to slide on, but are getting easier with repeated use.So I bought this product after developing shin splints from getting into the habit of running again. I figured this would be a relief, but what a pain in the @$$!! It provides great ice relief for about 15 min, but it is VERY HARD to slide on your shin when it is frozen, and it is VERY HARD to take off when its no longer frozen!! Do not listen to the measurement guide provide by Brown Medical. Measure your calf muscle and go up one size from the measurement guide.Though it does not feel like a premium product but is really helpful in treatment of Shin splints. Very happy with results.Does not fit well.
